Get to Know Us
Alvey reels are manufactured to best practice standards and our sidecast reels are in fact so robust that they can be dunked in the ocean for a quick rinse if exposed to beach sand! Alvey reels certainly have a reputation for being durable; however, they are the choice of many competitive anglers for many other reasons. No other style of fishing reel allows the line to run directly over your index finger while you retrieve your line; this form of fishing is extremely sensitive and enables you to feel the smallest of bites.

A wonderful note from a long-time Alvey Angler we just had to share.
"You’ve got to love the strength, durability, direct feel and sheer ingenuity of the good ol’ Aussie Alvey: a genuine fishing icon!
I’ve owned a bunch of Alveys over the years and still have a few in my collection that get a run from time to time.
Naturally, they shine on the rocks and beaches for the sort of stuff shown here (groper and jewies), but they fit plenty of other scenarios, too. I took a couple of shallow-spool, lightweight models with me to Canada in the 1980s and they shone for drift-baiting for steelhead and other salmonids in faster water. The Canuks were very impressed... especially in the depths of winter when spin reels were freezing and icing up. The Alvey soldiered on through it all!"
Thanks Steve!

Thanks to Brett Bannon for sharing this on Facebook.
It took us over a year to get the V-Slot replica right, but we can finally enjoy looking at this beautiful piece of art and be as proud as Charles Alvey was 100 years ago when he made the very first Alvey V-Slot reel.
Where would you keep this piece of Australian fishing history?
We have one sitting in the middle of our meeting room table.
